David has over 35 years experience in the aerospace industry starting with an engineering apprenticeship at London Heathrow with BOAC. His initial aircraft experience was with the VC10 and B707. Following a brief spell as an avionics technician, he decided to pursue a career as a development engineer. He was involved with BAC1-11 auto flight systems followed by B747 flight management systems. Typical projects included the introduction of modifications, support to maintenance and flight operations, defect investigation and preparation of ATA100 documentation. He was then recruited by the US company Lear Siegler as a product support engineer on B737 flight management systems. This involved liaison with engineering & flight operations departments; troubleshooting & flight deck observation; training airline staff & preparation of system performance reports.
His next role was with Kidde Graviner as a business development manager for aircraft fire protection and safety systems. David worked on specifying new systems on aircraft including Eurofighter, Tornado and the AVRO RJ
This was followed by commercial positions with Weston Aerospace (aero-engine temperature and speed transducers) and Ametek (aircraft cooling and demist systems). At Weston he was the key account manager for Rolls Royce (UK and Germany).
His interests outside of work include: writing, football, cycling, classic & vintage aircraft. |
